Train tracks are a familiar place to paint for Troy Lovegates, also known as Other, who came up finger painting boxcars in Toronto, Canada. Now based in Oakland, California, he spends much of his days traveling North America by rail, where he comes across many of the subjects that inspire his work. Raised around a nursing home that his family managed, Troy understands and invites appreciation of weathered beauty in his figures, painted in a style recognizably his own. On SODO Track, his aging figures weave and bound through the woods, dodging the tree trunks and stumps that surround them.
